The Liberator Irish Malt in Tawny Port Finish

This is a rich and complex Malt Whiskey, full of fruit flavours.  It's Ireland's first Vatted Malt in decades - made up of 2 Single Malts from different distilleries and led the wave of Port finished Whiskeys. Initially matured in ex-Bourbon casks, it was finished in really fresh Tawny Port casks (that we sourced ourselves directly from the Quinta through family in Portugal) for between 9 & 12 months.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Intense fruity aromas like dried cherries, figs and freshly peeled citrus zests. Palate: First some roasted aromas from malt and hazel nuts, then undertones of a winey sweetness, again fruity but now more blackberries, dried kiwi and blood orange zests, the mouthfeel is smooth with a soft sparkle. Finish: Warm and spicy with a bit of candied ginger, again long-pepper and citrus zests.

We're about to start bottling Batch 4 - 1,000 numbered bottles at €65/bottle - please see the 'Stockists' tab in the Menu or click on this link to buy now

The Liberator Small Batch - Double Port Finish

The Liberator Small Batch is a light but characterful Blended Whiskey. It's a premium blend, with an unusually high (42%) content of Malt Whiskey (most blends have 5-15% Malt), giving it depth and complexity while retaining the approachability of the Grain component. The Whiskey was initially matured in ex-Bourbon casks then it was finished for 9-12 months in a range of fresh Ruby and Tawny Port casks giving a rich fruity taste.

Tasting Notes: Rich dried fruits on the Nose. Blackcurrant, cloves, orange zest and pear drops and a creamy mouthfeel on the Palate. A medium length Finish with vanilla, almonds and some spice.

This is a batch of 3,000 numbered bottles at 46% ABV and priced at €49.50/bottle - please see 'Stockists' tab in the Menu or buy direct using this link

The Liberator Storehouse Specials

Storehouse Specials are our occasional releases of interesting Whiskeys from our Storehouse - they can be single cask offerings, cask strength or trials for new releases we're considering.

Our Port 'n' Peat - is a Port finished blended Whiskey with a very subtle Peated Malt component which highlights and enhances the Port, without overpowering it. We've been blown away by the reception it's had since we launched the first sellout batch for Belfast Whiskey Week with reviews such as "Truly spectacular" (Tom Molloy, Sunday Independent) and "Delicious" (Leslie Williams, Examiner) from the press and "I don't like Peat but I love this" from a number of online reviewers.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Butterscotch, banana, sponge cake. The peat sits gently in the background. Palate: Fully bodied and creamy, light peat with a hint of dark chocolate. Finish: Dry and very long. Charred wood, black coffee beans, grass

We're coming to the end of Batch 3 - 400 hand numbered bottles of 350ml (half bottle size) at 46% ABV for €35 - but a few are still available: please see 'Stockists' tab in the Menu or buy direct using this link

Our most recent Storehouse Special is the Malt x Moscatel Finish - a Single Malt Whiskey finished in a delicious fresh Moscatel Sherry cask, imparting fresh rich fruit flavours, a creamy mouthfeel and a long finish. Bottled at Cask Strength (56% ABV), this is a limited edition of 400 hand numbered 350ml bottles (150 for Ireland). Some bottles are available at €60 through James Fox, Celtic Whiskey, Irish Malts, Carryout in Killarney and in 50ml samples from Tiny Tipples.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Fresh floral notes of orange blossom & honeysuckle with dried orange peel and woody spices.  Palate: floral and citrus with a spicy note, orange barley sugar, with an earthy, grassy backnote. Finish: huge lingering harmonious tropical fruit finish
